of the Diocese of Chichester he was born in Worcestershire, England. He was canonized
in 1262. He is remembered in the Anglican community as well as the Catholic.

1593: Birth of English Poet George Herbert. He was a priest,
orator, and poet of the Church of England. His poetry was written in English,
Latin, and Greek.
Two great quotes of George Herbert: “He begins to die, that
quits his desires.” And, ““None knows the weight of another’s burthen (burden).”
Three resources to learn more about George Herbert:

1822: Birth of author Edward Everett Hale. A Unitarian
Minister, Hale was also a historian, author, and served the US Senate as a
Chaplain.
I must admit this is one of the favorite authors of my
father with the quote I am providing being one my dad regularly reminded me of.
The quote: “I am only one, but I am one. I can't do everything, but I can do
something. The something I ought to do, I can do. And by the grace of God, I
will.”
Another very useful quote: “Never bear more than one trouble
at a time. Some people bear three kinds-- all they have had, all they have now,
and all they expect to have.”

1934: Birth of anthropologist Jane Goodall who was named UN
Messenger of Peace and spent decades studying the behavior of chimpanzees. An
advocate of vegetarianism and environmental sustainability Goodall also founded
the Jane Goodall Institute to continue research in parts of Tanzania.
Two quotes I like of Jane Goodall’s:
“You cannot get through a single day without having an
impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to
decide what kind of difference you want to make.”
“We have so far to go to realize our human potential for compassion, altruism,
and love.”
